Ying Nan Shi

Ying Nan Shi
He/Him/His | Stage Manager
As a stage manager, Ying has overseen productions including Drowned Chicken (thesis project, HKAPA, 2024) and served as a technician for Emotion Anxiety (HKAPA) and York University’s Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. His expertise extends to lighting design (Null, Mon Arch), movement direction (Let Us Have a Chat), and dance film choreography (山雨欲来 / Before the Storm).
Ying’s leadership is grounded in collaborative practice, having held roles as a theatre technician, health and safety committee member, and mentor for York Region schools. He is a National Dance Artist with the Canadian Council of the Arts (since 2022) and has participated in international residencies like Periphus Workshops in Greece (2024).
With a passion for storytelling through movement and production craft, Ying brings both artistic sensitivity and organizational rigor to every project.
