Kaila Bhullar (She/They) is a queer Indo-Chilean multimedia artist, audiovisual performer, and technician based in so-called “Vancouver.” Working across video, sound, performance, and installation, Bhullar’s practice is rooted in a distinct audiovisual language that merges noise, glitch, analogue textures, and fragmentation to evoke a sense of wonder. Grounded in experimental manipulation, Bhullar's sonic and visual explorations focus on creating immersive, speculative environments that explore memory, embodiment, and spatial perception. Their work approaches listening and seeing as a visceral experience, using both live and static audiovisual mediums to construct portals into alternative realities that challenge linear structures. Bhullar's practice deeply considers how physical constraints and technological mediation inform how we occupy space and sound. Their work has been featured in collaborative and solo contexts across various platforms, including New Forms Festival, The Music Gallery of Toronto, Active/Passive, Lobe Studio, The Polygon Gallery, Centre A, Queer Arts Festival, and The Small File Media Festival. Bhullar is currently an MFA candidate at UBC and holds a BFA from SFU. Kaila is very excited to step into the role of Stage Manager for the Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival/CACV. With a strong background in live performance and multidisciplinary production, Kaila thrives on keeping complex, fast-paced shows running seamlessly behind the scenes so the magic can happen on stage. They look forward to supporting this year's incredible programming and creative team to bring the 2026 festival to life!
