Cole Schmidt
Cole Schmidt (he/him/they/them) is a Queer documentarian living and working on the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tseleil-Waututh nations. He primarily works in digital and film photography. After picking up a camera in 2018 he was initially inspired by nature and candid photography. That appreciation for candid beauty, mixed with a need to confront his queer identity, prompted a vivid passion for Drag performance.
Today Cole is an ingrained part of “Vancouver’s” queer community. He is interested in documenting local, gender non-conforming, and contemporary forms of Queer expression. While his work is often a source of free/accessible promotional material for performers, he hopes to build an extensive collection of Drag performance images to aid in preserving the community’s history.
