Aryana Neff
Aryana (she/her) is a multi-medium fantasy artist based in British Columbia. Largely working with watercolours, clay, and ink, she often uses many layers of mediums in one piece. She started to develop her style in 2015 by drawing small warped faces and over the years she started to add human anatomy, nature scenes, and architecture. Soon enough, she began diving into 3D sculptures, mixing both 3D and 2D artwork together. Today, Aryana continues to be passionate about developing the themes and concepts that are attached to her work, in addition to building skills to better communicate these ideas to others.
Aryana’s art delves into themes of childhood nostalgia, typically incorporating many aspects of nature, vibrant colours, and exaggerated facial expressions into her work. She has pulled inspiration from expressive anatomy, forest scenery, and the children’s fantasy illustrations she was exposed to as a kid. Her goal with her work is to build different abstract emotions that typically can not be expressed verbally, in hopes of reaching out and connecting with others in a more intimate way through her art. She has made certain decisions to increase these themes in her artwork, such as actively attempting to make her art as wispy as possible, as well as distorting the anatomy and objects she draws. She has found that this works best to showcase her own nostalgia and different personal sentiments in her work.
